Senior training night took a turn for the better recently when players began to notice that the tall skinny bloke and mate of Woody Barlow, was none other than England World Cup Legend Will Greenwood!! An old school mate of Woody's, Will was pursuaded to drop by and join up with training.... (He has still got 'it' by the way)
After training Greenwood stayed in the bar chatting to the players and even having a text conversation with Jonny Wilkinson in Toulouse at the same time. The big thing there was not the texting and talking (most of us can do that) It was the casual chat to another England Legend that emphasised what an icon was in our midst.
Before leaving Will pulled another surprise on us all when he awarded Matt Beesley, Benny Elliott, Tom Herd and Will Cargill with their RFU GOLD Volunteer award! This prestigious award is given by the RFU in recognition on a major volunteer contribution to rugby and given to the lads for their work with young players.
The club are delighted that these young men are being recognised, not only for their performances on field, but also within the community. "Another example of the benefits of Rugby" said Club Chairman Robin Astles
